Renaissance Removal Paintings marks new territory for Studio la Città. The gallery has long championed artists whose practices are grounded in reduction – of colour, gesture, and form.
Over 25 years of painting marginalized background trees as forefront images, I looked further into the background of those backgrounds. what is that space? I grew up in the shadow of conceptual art, but I don’t consider myself a conceptual artist.
A new ecosystem that blends design, contemporary art, electronic music, and creative cross-pollination.
A fluid space that seeks a point of intersection between creative cultures, operating through an ongoing process of cross-pollination.
Black is never just a colour – it is a conceptual vector, a dynamic material, an existential signifier, a semantic tool.
The colour #000000, the digital maximum reduction of black expressed as a hexadecimal code, appears in the RGB system as the absolute absence of Red, Green, and Blue (0, 0, 0). Conceptually, it symbolizes the “zero of form” theorized by Malevich and serves as both limit point and point of origin for a color gradient—a progressive, incremental transition across tones.
