Richard Avedon for Versace, 1983-1984 and Michael Challenger

Deposito À – Converge opens to the public on Saturday, 11th of April at 5:00P.M. with the exhibition Richard Avedon for Versace, 1983–1984.

Richard Avedon’s photographs for Versace
A journey through fashion and photography, revealing the iconic encounter between Richard Avedon and Gianni Versace’s cutting-edge fashion design exhibited for the first time in 1983 at Studio la Città, narrating a vibrant era for style and identity.

Michael Challenger

Michael Challenger is a painter, sculptor and printmaker, born in Kent in 1939. From the late 1960s onwards, he exhibited in international contexts, including London, New York, Detroit and Verona, where he maintained a studio in the mid-1970s.

His practice is particularly distinguished by works produced between the 1960s and 1970s, characterised by environments constructed through hallucinatory geometric effects and sharply defined chromatic fields. While operating within a rigorous and reductive visual language, Challenger develops compositions that combine formal precision with optical illusion. His works are held in major collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Britain.

Vinyl records from the 1980s

The exhibition is enriched by a selection of 50 vinyl records from the 1980s, curated by Fabio Slider & Lachi. An unexpected journey in music – synth-pop, New Wave, and early hip-hop experiments – evoking the explosion of synthesizer and visual energy of the MTV era.

Video mapping
Mamo’s video mapping light experience illuminates the Deposito À space, blending technology and poetry to transform the gallery from a container into a narrative space.
