Different individuals inhabit the same large house; what unites them is a shared conviction: the house must be understood deeply, intimately — room by room. The windows have been bricked over by its tenants, not out of fear, but as a deliberate refusal to be distracted by the outside world — by the lure of the landscape.
I orient myself through the full gesture of listening — as an Italian artist, as a European artist. In a time of increasing homogenization, I see identity as the final stronghold of resistance.
My practice is rooted in painting — a continual conversion, a constant return. I am interested in the gestures that are still possible today, and in the fertile tension between abstraction and figuration. My recent body of work, developed since 2019, is titled “Redrawing” (Ridisegnare).
In this series, drawing is not preparatory, nor peripheral — the line asserts itself as the main actor. A living, dominant black trace navigates the surface, generating form and vision.
Large-scale oil and acrylic canvases unfold without hesitation. The mark constructs bodies and figures, which inhabit space collectively — yet their presence is destabilized by the collapse of traditional perspective and spatial hierarchies.
The body becomes a site of seduction — a generator of power — because it remains central to our desires, our projections, our fictions.
