This volume celebrates Studio la Città’s fifty years of activity by documenting the group exhibition “Quello che non ho venduto…”, curated by Marco Meneguzzo. Starting from the provocative idea that a gallery owner’s true wealth lies in the works left in storage because they were too avant-garde for their time, the album paints a fascinating self-portrait of the founder, Hélène de Franchis, through her most intimate, courageous and forward-thinking choices. The iconographic and critical journey spans various movements in contemporary art from the 1950s to the present day, bringing together historical and contemporary masterpieces under a common theme: simplicity and elegance. The pages unfold a unique visual journey ranging from Lucio Fontana’s ceramics to Pier Paolo Calzolari’s neon works, from Ettore Spalletti’s sculptures to David Simpson’s monochromes, right through to the installations of Jacob Hashimoto and Emil Lukas.
