Timeless: Sound Art by the Pietà de’ Turchini Foundation featuring Roberto Pugliese in Naples

The Pietà de’ Turchini Foundation presents Timeless, an innovative research project exploring the relationship between sound, space and technology, conceived with the artistic and scientific guidance of Roberto Pugliese.

The first public event will take place on Saturday 24 October 2026, from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm, at the Church of Santa Caterina da Siena in Naples (Via Santa Caterina da Siena 38), with the inauguration of the intermedia work Zêlos. Interpositions Interfaces by the artist Pier Alfeo.

Under the influence and scientific-artistic guidance of Roberto Pugliese, Timeless aims to revitalise Naples’ historic musical heritage through a contemporary sensibility, creating a permanent meeting place for artists, researchers and students.

In the installation Zêlos, the Choir Room becomes a reactive organism in which ancient conventual jealousies and sound algorithms engage in dialogue, making each listening session unique and unrepeatable. Pier Alfeo, a sound artist trained in Bari and Naples under the guidance of Pugliese, Scagliola and Martusciello, thus creates a tension between the unpredictability of chaos and the repetitiveness of technology.

The installation will remain open to the public free of charge until 31 October, after which it will become a permanent feature of the Santa Caterina da Siena monumental complex.

The project is supported by the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne, with funding from MAECI | MUSA, the Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region, and is promoted by the City of Naples.
