Non sono semplici riproduzioni fotografiche, dei dipinti e degli acquerelli di William Turner, le light box di Hiroyuki Masuyama.
Si tratta, invece, di un'operazione di matrice concettuale sul metodo di lavoro del grande artista inglese. Il soggetto sono le opere che Turner ha realizzato durante il suo viaggio da Londra a Venezia. Masuyama ha ripercorso le tappe del viaggio e come Turner ha preso appunti visivi, solo con un medium diverso: dal disegno è passato alla fotografia.
Allo stesso modo di Turner, che portava con sé appunti grafici e memorie di viaggio in Inghilterra, dove realizzava le opere, Masuyama porta le immagini scattate nel suo studio di Düsseldorf e le sottopone a una complessa operazione di montaggio.
Le immagini di viaggio e le immagini dei dipinti di Turner, diventano così nelle opere di luce, un unicum armonioso in cui vengono superati i limiti spazio-temporali. (vedi biografia)
